The Idesüss Kindergarten and Nursery is located in the area bordered by LPS buildings and busy roads, next to the Kőbánya-Kispest metro station. The one-story type-design building was waiting for reutilization in an abandoned, empty, bad condition. It took a great deal of fantasy of the participants to envision the realities of today in the given features, but now the design can be considered as a model solution to the problem.
The Gyermekkor Alapítvány saw the hidden possibilities in the municipal building, and their pedagogical approach fortunately met the approach of the two young architects of MicroArchitects. During the site visit, today's spectacular and colorful building full of creative ideas was found to be a precise design solution sensitively adapted to the needs. The success of the operation is a consequence of the design methodology proposed by the architects. The result of the “desire-collecting” methodology, previously experimented with in the project of the Magdolna Quarter participatory interventions, is that the institution can support the open pedagogical approach in all its elements. All the group rooms have connection to the garden: this characteristic is given a special interpretation by this kindergarten. Custom-made toys, landscaping, and small hills standing out from the courtyard play the same fundamental role in the early development of children, just like the layout of the group rooms. This kindergarten standing in the housing estate environment is quite ideal: its revival as a metamorphosis of a seventies building is a fact to welcome.
