This nearly 40,000 m2 large rental office building is a new element architecturally defining the area of the BAH junction. The complex basically consists of three parallel masses starting from the direction of the University of Physical Education, with outlines broken in the middle, inclining to each other. These masses reach the Csörsz utca by narrowing into three high-rising, vertical edges.
Here, on the corner overlooking Sas Hill, the ensemble opens up with unparalleled generosity and sky-breaking theatricality, and it outlines the possible line of siting with these building blades instead of some closed blocks. This power and momentum are amplified, at the same time made human-scale by the subtle movements within the three masses themselves, as well as the carefully chosen transparency and ratio system of the glass-metal façade. When entering the interiors, the light limestone cladding also appears – quite unexpectedly, after experiencing the exterior. This choice of material tames and transforms the halls into human, livable spaces, without compromising their generosity. This work is a forward-looking example and an inspiration to the profession and even to all of us that it is possible and necessary to create contemporary, good architecture organically integrated in the city here and now – even on behalf of a client who represents purely market demand.
